Design entrance hall.

Flanders Operastudio (Gent).
The Operastudio is a post-graduate training for young opera singers and accompanists. A small group of internationally selected students works on different projects over the course of one year.

The first words of famous opera arias were written over walls and doors in red paint. After that, photos were pasted over the text. The photos were taken during workshops in which masters, directors, musical directors, musicians and students made these famous arias their own, and gave a personal interpretation of the words. Every year new photos are added. The personal interpretation wins more and more space over the famous text. This way one ‘wall of fame’ becomes an other ‘wall of fame’: a wall with the face of every artist who has worked in this place.  (2005)

Thanks to Operastudio Vlaanderen,
Ronny Lauwers and many fantastic directors, masters, teachers, conductors, scenographers, light designers and musicians.
The photos were printed at ARG (Gent)
