Final Concerts
Projection
Projection during classical concerts
Flanders Operastudio (Gent).
The Operastudio is a post-graduate training for young opera singers and accompanists. A small group of internationally selected students works on different projects over the course of one year. At the end of every year, the graduates give a final concert at the Opera of Ghent.
Final concert 2007
In the beginning of the year the students were asked to write down their hopes and expectations for that academic year. At the end of the year the students received their ‘letter to yourself’ and their reactions were filmed. These images were mixed with black-and-white photos taken through the year every time a student achieved one of his/her goals. (movie)
Final concert 2009
In 2009 the final concert took place in the big hall of the Vlaamse Opera in Ghent. During the concert, that took about 60 minutes, 60 portraits were projected. Portraints of the singers themselves, but also of the teachers, masters and musicians that they worked with over the year. While the soloists gave their concert front stage, it was as if they were watching themselves, or their teachers were watching them, from the sreen. (slideshow)
